EJ Williams, a senior at Sacred Heart High school, is one of the top track athletes in the State and in the Nation. As we approach the mid-way of the 2019 track season, EJ continues to dominate on the track week after week. He started his outdoor track season after a very successful indoor season which brought him to a sixth place finish overall in the 55 meter hurtles at the New Balance National Championship in March of this year. Being one of the first to do so from Sacred Heart, he is truly a unique and inspiring person who brings his character and well rounded sportsmanship wherever he goes.
At first it was his father who told him to do track, but it also was all about life choices in life, so he decided on whether he should join or not. He decided to do track as conditioning for football and basketball at first, until he realized that it was more than just that.
The hardest challenge that EJ ever faced was competing against the competitions that is on his level or beyond his own limit of his speed, from States through Nationals is his hardest time to get there. He has overcome those struggles and went on to become the Sixth fastest hurdler in the nation.
At first he came in as a sprinter, but Coach Festa had another event for him which he never thought of over many times until now. He had him jumping over hurdles out of nowhere, at first Ej looked at him saying that he’s crazy for doing that to him, but now Ej actually appreciate it from him from this day on.
All of the achievements that Ej has received is great and all, but it’s not enough for him. His main goal is to break the states, and New England’s Record in the books so he could see his real accomplishment from now and then.
From Freshman year to now
Ej has (33 gold medals),(10 silver medals), (20 bronze medals). In total he has received 63 medals, but there’s still more to come during this outdoor season for more medals and success.
Keep eating EJ.
