Over the years, Sacred Heart High School’s  fall sports program has fielded many exceptional teams. One prominent team that has impressed the fans of the NVL is the Sacred Heart girls’ soccer team. Because of the girls sheer hard work and their upmost determination, these student athletes kicked off the season with a phenomenal record and remains on track to qualify for post-season tournament play. However, this great accomplishment would have never occurred without the help of a few new friends. This year, the SHHS girl’s soccer team has created a co-op soccer team with Kaynor Technology High School. The combination of the two programs has allowed multiple girls at Kaynor to play soccer, and create new experiences throughout their high school careers, as well as, provided a functional, secure team for the SHHS athletes. As one team, these ladies are learning new communication skills, playing different positions, and sharing new friendships that will last a life time. The coaches of this team, Mike Mentone and Dave Martins, are continuously encouraging their players to always stay physically strong and mentally positive when facing their opponents. With these positive attitudes and new perspectives, the players worked well together to be competitive in a difficult league. What the future holds for the “Kaynor Tech Hearts” is uncertain, but one thing is sure, both schools are coming together and the athletes are giving all they can to compete for a spot in the state tournament this year!
